QPR manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that he is set to sign a two-year extension to his contract, thus removing any fears of immediate retirement. The former Tottenham and Portsmouth manager guided QPR back to the Premier League at the first attempt. Their return to the Premier League has been followed by back-to-back defeats against Hull city and Tottenham. Despite this, there is confidence amongst QPR that Redknapp will be able to prevent the club going straight back down. This confidence has been demonstrated by a two-year extension that the manager is about to sign.

Redknapp revealed after the club are promoted in a stunning fashion through the play-offs that they would have considered retirement rather than spending another season in the Championship. QPR have once again spent a lot of money on new players, while the experienced campaigners like Rio Ferdinand have come to Loftus Road due to the presence of Redknapp. The 62-year-old says that club owner Tony Fernandes has offered him a two-year extension, which he will sign without probably reading the contract papers.

A home match against Sunderland during their weekend represents a great opportunity to get the club’s first win of the season. Home form is very crucial for clubs expected to struggle with relegation.

“Maybe [I’ll sign] today or tomorrow, whenever. It’s there, Tony’s offered me an extension for two years and I’ll sign it. I haven’t read it, I probably won’t read it, I’ll just sign it. It’s absolute rubbish, we’ve played two games, he [Fernandes] wants me to sign a two-year extension. He’s been asking me for a little while but we’ve just not got around to doing it. Maybe today if they put it in front of me, I’ll sign it. If not, next week. I wanted to come back into the Premier League, I want to stay here and I will stay here this year,” said Redknapp.
