Former England midfielder Jermaine Jenas says that he wants his former club, Tottenham, to win the League Cup this year.
The 2015 Capital One Cup final will be a rematch of the 2008 League Cup final when Tottenham played against Chelsea at the new Wembley. Despite conceding the first goal, Tottenham managed to come back and get a 2-1 victory. It was the last trophy lifted by the North London outfit and they are looking to repeat the achievement in 2015. Despite the wishes of the former England midfielder, Chelsea secured a comfortable 2-0 win over their London rivals.
This was the first trophy for Jose Mourinho in almost 2 years and the Portuguese celebrated this title with a lot of happiness. Jenas says that he is disappointed for Tottenham since they had everything going into the match. Only a few weeks ago, Spurs had beaten Chelsea 5-3 at White Hart Lane. It was largely achieved due to the brilliance of Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane. Both players were largely anonymous during the 90 minutes, as Chelsea ensured that they are opposition did not have enough time on the ball to work their magic. The North London outfit will now have to look forward to finishing in the top four.
“That was as close as you are going to get to the perfect final performance from Chelsea. They never looked in danger throughout the game. We didn’t see anything from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen.Petr Cech did not have a meaningful save to make,” said Jenas after the match. Incidentally, Jenas was part of the Tottenham team that achieved success in 2008 under the management of Juande Ramos. Chelsea were not in great form coming into the match and Jenas felt that they were there for the taking at the Wembley.
