Retired Premier League star turn pundit Jermaine Jenas has declared that former England manager Roy Hodgson is the right fit at Leicester City.
The coach led the Three Lions to a disappointing show at Euro 2016 where he resigned after the tournament. England were knocked out by small side Iceland – yet another poor outing in the international scene from the former World Cup champions.
Hodgson has been without a job ever since. Jenas opines that the former Fulham, Liverpool and West Brom manager has all it takes to lead the Premier League defending champions.
“When I heard his name, I was surprised. As surprised as I was hearing about Claudio Ranieri getting the job. But when I think about it and break it down, I think it’s a perfect fit,” Jenas said of Hodgson being a suitable candidate to lead Leicester.
“How Leicester play when they’re at their best, it’s a pragmatic style. The best way for Leicester to play is to contain, restrict and then break. Roy Hodgson took Fulham to the Europa LEageu final playing that exact way. I think he’ll get them singing the tune,” Jenas added.
Leicester City have seen a resurgence with the caretaker manager Craig Shakespeare, winning three of their Premier League games. With Jamie Vardy scoring during the international window, he is set to lead the attack as they continue their impressive run since the sacking of former coach Ranieri.
