The midfielder of Tottenham Hotspur, Jermaine Jenas, has been placed on loan to Nottingham Forest for 1 month. The authorities of Nottingham Forest had tried to sign Jenas on a loan deal during the pre season transfer window, but, due to some reasons, the deal had not got finalized then, but, finally, Nottingham managed to sign Jenas on loan. It is a very short contract though and Jenas would give his services to Nottingham only for 30 days.
Nottingham is the club where Jenas had started his career way back in 1999 when he was only 16 years of age. He played for Nottingham for 2 years. In February 2002, Newcastle United bought him after paying a transfer fee of 5 million Pounds.
Jenas’ tenure at Newcastle was not that successful. He continued to play for Newcastle till the end of the 2004-05 season. He played 152 matches for Newcastle and managed to find the net only 12 times.
At the start of the 2005-06 season, Jenas was signed by Tottenham Hotspur. Tottenham had paid 7 million Pounds for buying him from Newcastle. Jenas has been with the Spurs since then.
Jenas was placed on loan to Aston Villa at the start of the last season. He featured for Villa in a few matches in the first half of the last season. In December 2011, he injured his leg severely while playing in a match against Manchester United. He had to miss the rest of the season due to that injury.
He came back to Tottenham at the start of the ongoing season and also featured for the Spurs against West Bromwich Albion on 25th of August.
After signing the loan deal, Jenas said, “It’s wonderful to be back at Nottingham. This club is pretty close to my heart. I am here for a brief period, but, I would try to win some matches for Nottingham.”
Jenas hadn’t been getting starting opportunities for the Spurs in the current season, but, he is expected to get regular starting chances for Nottingham. Nottingham Forest has to play against Derby on Sunday and Jenas is supposed to be included in the first XI of Nottingham for that match.
